We can transport boats of most sizes. For larger boats
we use an artic unit and one of two trailers, both low loaders and designed
specifically for moving boats. With these trailers we are able to transport
most types of boat e.g. yachts, motor cruisers, canal barges or smaller
boats, two, or possibly three at a time. The larger trailer has air
suspension, thus giving the smoothest of rides. This is particularly
important for older boats which require very sympathetic handling.
We were recently pleased to move a 100-year-old Shetland
Isles style fishing boat from Maldon in Essex to Aberdeen for shipment
to Shetland, where she is now in a museum. The other trailer is very
low and therefore suitable for boats that are very high, so we can move
most yachts that have fly bridges and sailing yachts with very deep
keels. For smaller vessels, we use a Landrover Discovery and one of
three trailers designed for different types of boats, e.g. long keel,
bilge keel and motor boats.
With
smaller boats we are able to load and unload using an 'A' frame gantry
and chain hoists; heavier boats can be loaded and offloaded using jacks.
If time is not too important we can usually manage to transport on a
return load basis, thus keeping the cost down. We have over 30 years
experience of moving boats, and are fully insured. If required, we can
arrange cranage and storage (both outside and undercover.)
We will be very pleased to offer advice or give you a
quote, just give us a call.
